Being a part of BSA is a great way to gain experience in learning how to manage a business. In addition, BSA alumni work in a variety of industries including investment banking, social media, consulting, venture capital, private equity, and tech, providing BSA staff a network for recruiting opportunities. The hours are very flexible, and there are no set times that you would be working every week. All BSA managers have a great amount of freedom to set their own schedules.


 

HIRING - Office Manager

The BSA Office Manager would work with all of the divisions of BSA in order to improve documentation, organization and efficiency of the organization. They will report to the Executive Director, but will be in constant contact with all BSA employees. Their position will involve general administrative and clerical support (including mailing, scanning, faxing and copying), scheduling meetings internally and externally, attending meetings and taking detailed minutes, managing workflow and task execution of management team, and ordering office supplies. The Office Manager must also be ready to assist with various projects as assigned to them by the team of Directors.


Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides. Proficiency in scheduling platforms (When2Meet, Doodle) is also important. Email a resume and optional cover letter to harold_truong@brown.edu and max_low@brown.edu.

 

HIRING - Strategy Manager

The Strategy Manager works on key strategic initiatives under two main categories:

  1. As an internal consultant to BSA as an organization, they will work on projects that aim to improve the efficiency of BSA operations and/or expand company capabilities.

  2. As an “external” consultant to BSA portfolio businesses, they will work on consulting projects for the businesses within the BSA portfolio, especially the ones affiliated with student entrepreneurship.

Potential projects include analyzing the efficiency and profitability of BSA’s portfolio businesses, developing a sustainable growth strategy for the Underground (yes, the cafe!), and working on a public relations strategy to boost BSA marketing and promotion capabilities.This will give you real experience in business, qualitative and quantitative analysis, basic financial analysis, and consulting. But prior consulting or business experience is NOT required! You’ll learn everything by doing. Any concentration is welcome. First-years and sophomores preferred.

We’re looking for: team players and good communicators, dedication and the ability to deliver quality on time, some evidence of analytical thinking and critical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions from text or data. HIRING - Internal team manager

The Internal Team Manager will be responsible for the hiring of new staff and professional development of staff members. They will manage job descriptions, onboarding new staff, employee handbooks, potential employee terminations, performance reviews, bonus administration, and will also have weekly meetings with relevant members of the Brown administration.You will learn how to manage a 20-person team, create business-like documents, and have real accountability and responsibility.
